In 2025, Santa Cruz County held it's first "Week Without Driving" event, promoting alternative forms of transit for members of the community. This required fun, unique materials for publicizing the event and incentivizing people to participate. As the lead designer on this event, I established the look and feel of the materials, creating a poster, ads, social graphics, and a shirt design for use leading up to and at the event.

The event was wildly popular, attracting a lot of foot traffic - the commemorative shirts given out during the event even ran out before it was over!

The main element of this project was the poster - this was the first item created and established what all other ads, graphics, and materials would look like.

I began with the illustration, highlighting popular forms of non-car transit in Santa Cruz, including one of the new Santa Cruz METRO bus designs as the focal point. Colors and fonts were taken from the County's brand guide, establishing its own look and feel while still referencing the County, not appearing too out-of-context with their other department materials. Using an isometric perspective, I made sure to include strong lines directing attention diagonally across the poster from the headline to the event title and more information at the bottom.

The imagery here is meant to be familiar to people in Santa Cruz, making it easy for viewers to see themselves participating in these alternate forms of transit.

This base design was then translated to bus ads, t-shirts, and social graphics to promote the event.
